Bio

Lena Dvoracek was born September 5, 1897 in Weimer, Texas and passed away August 20, 2005 at the age of 107. She was the daughter of Anton Jurasek and Louisa Richter Jurasek. On February 3, 1923 she married Joseph Dvoracek in Nada, Texas. Lena was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church for over fifty years where she also participated in the Women's Guild. She was active in the Senior Center at Pleasant Grove and worked at St. Paul's Hospital in food service. She retired from the packing department of a Dallas novelty company, and began work as a housekeeper. She loved gardening and raising chickens, ducks and rabbits. Lena is survived by son, Joseph Dvoracek of Dallas; eight grandchildren, Shirley Arbuckle Wilkens and husband, Mark, Kathrine Arbuckle Patro and husband, Ed, Linda Arbuckle Nixon and husband, Bob, Gilbert Dvoracek, Patricia Dvoracek Rudzinsky and husband, Peter, Rebecca Dvoracek Gratsy and husband, Philip, Jenny Dvoracek Britt and husband, Scott, and Ronald Dvoracek; thirteen great grandchildren, and twelve great-great grandchildren. Lena was preceded in death by daughters, Evelyn Arbuckle and Helen Dvoracek Jones; son, Gene Dvoracek; brother, Albert Jurasek; sisters, Minnie Jurasek Hlavinka and Hulda Jurasek. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Monday, August 22, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at St. Philip Catholic Church; 8131 Military Pkwy. Dallas, Texas 75227.
