Bio

Georgia Ann Policky was born on March 14, 1929, on the family farm east of Bee, NE; to Louis and Clara (Hain) Kouma and passed away on October 8, 2014, in Seward, NE; at the age of 85 years, 6 months and 24 days. She grew up in the Bee area where she attended Romine Country School District 68. She then attended Dwight Assumption High School for two years. On August 29, 1949, she married Ludvik "Lou K." Policky in Bee, NE. To this union four sons were born. The couple lived on a farm southeast of Bee where she was a homemaker and mother to her boys. In 1967, the family moved to an acreage on the edge of Bee. There she raised chickens and cleaned them for resale. In one year, she cleaned 1500 chickens and sold them to friends and family. Georgia worked at the hospital in Seward in the housekeeping department for two years. For many years she worked at the Bee Bar where she enjoyed meeting and making new friends. Georgia was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved baking and cooking, no one could make fried chicken like hers. She also baked Vanocka (braided Christmas Bread recipe passed down from her mother) and Kolaches. Georgia was a long time member of St. Wenceslaus parish in Bee, past member and officer of the Altar Society and member of the Choir. Upon moving to Seward in 1998, she became a member of St. Vincent de Paul parish and became involved with the SINE group. She was also an honorary member of St. Vincent de Paul PCCW. Her Catholic faith was very important to her. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lou K. in 1990; daughter-in-law, Kitty in 1979; three brothers, Louis Jr. in 1990; Lad in 1997; and Gary in 1985; a sister, Mary Wietzki in 2013. She is survived by her four sons; five granddaughters; seven grandsons; nine great grandchildren. Georgia is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law; sister and brother-in-law.
