Published in the Ord Quiz, Ord, Nebraska Virginia M. Parkos, Ord Resident, 76 Virginia Mae Parkos, 76, of Ord died Tues., May 1, 2001 at Arbor Manor in Fremont. Funeral services were held Fri., May 4 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. Burial was in the Ord Bohemian Cemetery. Mrs. Parkos was born Aug. 28, 1924 to John and Josephine (Fujan) Petska at Ord. She attended school at a rural school in Geranium Township of Valley County and then later received her GED. On April 7, 1947 she married Elmer D. Parkos at the Geranium Church west of Ord. The couple farmed west of Ord and later moved to a farm south of Ord. Mrs. Parkos farmed along with her husband for 18 years. She than attended Weber's Beauty School in Grand Island. She and her daughter, Carol operated a beauty shop 'Virgie's' in Sargent and Mrs. Parkos also operated 'Virgie's' beauty salon in Ord. Her last employment was at the Valley County Nursing Home as a Certified Medication Aid. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. She enjoyed cats, cooking, crafts and gardening. Survivors include three sons, James and Charles of Ord and Donald of Norfolk; three daughters, Carol (Mrs. Greg) Nattress, Susan Caruso and Tammy (Mrs. Scott) Cash, all of Fremont; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
