Dorothy Ruth Cotter, 85, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Sherman Eastland officiating. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery East. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St. Dorothy Cotter was born Aug. 22, 1929, in Hart Camp to Novie and Pearl Nixon. Dorothy graduated from Littlefield High School. She married her husband, Ray, on Oct. 30, 1948, in Portales, N.M. Dorothy was a homemaker and kept her grandchildren. She loved to do crafts and loved to sew, crochet and knit. Dorothy really enjoyed watching her family play sports and loved to play Skip-bo and had taken up playing bingo at Hudson House. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray; a brother, Billy Nixon; a great-granddaughter, Malori; and a great-grandson, Maddox. Survivors include two sons, Kevin Cotter and wife Linda of Canyon and Lee Cotter and wife Carolyn of Amarillo; a brother, Jimmy Nixon and wife Doris of Durant, Okla.; a sister, Daphene Harris of Meridian, Miss.; four grandchildren, Stephanie Stewart and husband Ken of Amarillo, Toby Cotter and wife Cheryn of Canyon and Aaron Cotter and Jennifer Cotter, both of Amarillo; and eight great-grandchildren, Kacey, Taryn, Sydnee, Neely, Keylin, Zayden, Bennett and Baylee. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
