~0bit~Charles William "Toad" McGuire, 90, of Independence, formerly of Central City and Troy Mills, died on Tuesday, June 4, 2002, in West Village Care Center, Independence, following a short illness. Services 1 p.m. Friday, Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. David Siler, Walker United Methodist Church. Burial Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, from 3 to 7 p.m. today and at the chapel after noon Friday. Surviving are two step-sons, Kenneth Fuessley and wife Naomi of Alburnett and Chester Fuessley and wife Virginia; a stepdaughter, JoAnn Johnston and husband George of Independence. Three sisters, Lucille Jordan and Alice Richardson, both of Cedar Rapids, and Loretta Anderson of Lamont; eight step-grand children; 18 stepgreatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; two sisters, Opal Achenbach and Donna Jean McGuire. He was born August 23, 1911, in Iowa County, to Alva and Martha (McKuster) McGuire, and was married to Hazel Pauline Kelso on January 7, 1937 in Central City. She died in 1968. He then was married to Vera Lucille (Powell) Fuessley on December 12, 1968, in Troy Mills. She also preceded him in death in 1989. Mr. McGuire had farmed in the Central City area for many years.
