Ralph Patrick Macken -- Rochester Posted: Tuesday, October 26, 2004 12:00 am ROCHESTER Post Bulletin ROCHESTER -- A memorial Mass for Ralph Patrick Macken will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 13 at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, with the Rev. Donald Connelly officiating. Burial will be in St. Bridget's Cemetery. Mr. Macken, 72, of Rocklin, Calif., formerly of Rochester, died of respiratory failure Oct. 19 at Sutter Roseville Hospital following a 11⁄2-year; illness. Born Feb. 15, 1932, in Rochester, he grew up here, graduated from Lourdes High School and attended Rochester Junior College and St. Mary's College in Winona. He served in the Air Force for four years. On Sept. 1, 1956, he married Penelope Ann McDonough at St. Francis Catholic Church in Rochester. Mr. Macken began a 32-year career with IBM in 1956 when the plant opened in Rochester, transferred to Boca Raton, Fla., in 1978 and retired in 1988. His wife also retired from IBM. They moved to California from Florida in 1998. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Phil of Truckee, Calif., and Patrick of San Francisco; a daughter, Jennifer Krull of Auburn, Calif.; five grandchildren; three brothers, James (Arlene) and David (Midge), both of Rochester, and Francis of New Jersey; and a sister, Eileen (Jim) Mengis of Iowa City, Iowa. A brother preceded him in death. Friends may call an hour before the service Nov. 13 at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the National Kidney Foundation or stem-cell research.
