The Oklahoman, Jan 27, 1994: Merral Crisp, longtime Mangum resident, passed away Sunday, Jan 23, 1994 at Edmond Regional Hospital, Edmond. Services for Merral Crisp were held 2 pm Wednesday, Jan 26, in the First Baptist Church, Mangum, where she was a faithful member. Rev Ray Sykes, Pastor, First Baptist Church, Choctaw, officiated. Merral Kathleen Crisp was born in Greer County on Sep 19, 1904. She was the daughter of Herman P. and Lucy Dennis Morgan. She attended the Fairview schools which were located south of Mangum. She was married to Gus T. Crisp on Dec 24, 1922 in Greer County. Mrs Crisp owned and operated the Mangum Floral and Gift Shop from 1950 to 1973. Following the death of her husband in 1967, she continued to operate her business, a large farm, and maintain her home. In 1973 she sold her business and went into semi-retirement. Mrs Crisp was extremely active in community and church affairs for over sixty years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she served in the following capacities during her lifetime: Superintendent, Intermediate and Young Peoples Department for fifteen years; President of the W.M.U. (Women's Missionary Union); Director, Intermediate Training Union, five years; Choir Member and President of her Sunday School class. Mrs Crisp held all offices in the Cityside Extension Homemakers Club; was a member of the Mangum Chamber of Commerce; Retail Merchants Association; Democratic Women's Organization; Business and Professional Women's Club; and the Order of the Eastern Star. She served as Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and subsequently served as an officer in the Past Matrons Club on several occasions. Mrs Crisp served as President of the Business and Professional Women's Club during 1956-57 and was selected as the Outstanding Woman of the Month by that organization during February 1957. She served as Chairman of the Greer County March of Dimes Campaign and as a result of her efforts, set a new record for contributions in the county. Mrs Crisp is survived by two children, Mrs Jean Sieg and Lt Col (ret) Richard A. Crisp, both of Edmond, OK; and four grandchildren, Col Stanley A. Sieg, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH; Captain Richard A. Crisp Jr, of Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN; Michael Sweatman, of Oklahoma City; Cynthia Naylor, of Granbury, TX; five great grandchildren, Jaclyn A. Sieg, Shannon L. Sieg, Shelby E. Sieg, Megan Naylor, and Christopher Sweatman. She is also survived by one sister, Thelma Howard, of Oklahoma City. Mrs Crisp, a devout Christian, spent her entire life in complete devotion to her family and service to her church and community. Services were conducted by Greer Funeral Home, Mangum.
