In Memory of Samuel A. Hilton June 22, 1933 - September 22, 2014 Obituary Samuel Amon Hilton, 81, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2014. He was born on June 22, 1933 to Amon H. Hilton and Olga Beatrice Giles in Terrell, TX. Sam went to High School in Mesquite where he was an athlete and played football for the Skeeters. His passion was farming. Sam was driving tractors since he was 7 years old and during his freshman year in high school, Sam took a block of land and farmed it. His senior year, 1952, he went to Kansas with the Future Farmers of America where he learned even better methods to further his passion for farming. He was industrious and hard working, telling family and friends “you don’t know what hard work is”. He was devoted to his friends, never missing a class reunion, and family. He took care of his mom, dad, uncle and his sister Velma throughout their lives and illnesses. Known as Uncle Sammy to his nieces and nephews, Sam was a good man with a strong constitution and dedicated work ethic. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings: William Frank, Hallie Wilkins, Hazel Murphy, Dennis Hilton, Claude Hilton and Velma Hilton. Those left to cherish his memory are two nieces and two nephews. There will be a celebration of Sam’s life on Thursday, September 25, 2014, in the Chapel of Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home starting at 12:00pm with a gathering of friends and family followed by a service of remembrance at 2:00pm. Interment will follow at Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell, TX.
