Bio

Harvey Franklin Lewis, 73, of De Leon passed away Monday, December 11, 1978, at 7:30 p.m. in the De Leon Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born July 13, 1905, in Comyn to the late Dave and Ada Lewis. Mr. Lewis was married to Arbelle Shupp January 29, 1929, in De Leon. He was a member of the Baptist Church and had lived in and around De Leon all of his life. He was a retired farmer and rancher. Funeral services were held Thursday, December 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the Northside Baptist Church with Reverend Darrell Dossey officiating. Music was under the direction of C. L. Mohon, Jr., Al Strasner, Pearl Spruill, and Ambrose Morgan. They were accompanied by Mrs. C. L. Mohon, Sr. Pallbearers were Brent Cogburn,, Glenn Davidson, Mark Davidson, Gary Davidson, Jack Boyd, and Roger Lewis. Burial was in the Downing Cemetery under the direction of Nowlin Funeral Home. Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife, Arbelle of De Leon; two sons, L.T. of De Leon and Henry DeWayne Lewis of San Antonio; a daughter Mrs. Nina Davidson of Midland; six grandsons and four great grandsons; two brothers, R.V. of Eastland and Eugene of Abilene; six sisters, Myrl Burris of Brady, Ollie Waddell of Evant, Eunice LaBlue and Jonnie Faye Seitz, both of California, Hazel Jones of Odessa and Mamie Ruth Monroe of Plumerville, Arkansas.
