Houston Chronicle, September 24, 2019: Sarah Vanek was born June 1923 in San Antonio and was raised in Sweet Home, Texas. Sarah was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edmund F. Vanek; brother, Ernest Herslebs; son-in-law, Bob Allen Sanders; and grandson, Allen Sanders. Sarah is survived by her son, James E. Vanek; daughter, Barbara Sanders; granddaughter, Bonnye Kirk and husband, William; great-granddaughter, Lily Kirk; step-great-grandson, Lucas Kirk; nieces and nephews, Jimmy Herslebs, Tommy Herslebs, Nancy Guignard, Susan Wasman, and Lori Jackson; along with other relatives and friends. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014, in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 26, 2014, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 705 St. Theresa Blvd. in Sugar Land followed by a reception in the church hall. Graveside services will be held later that afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
