Marriage, Barbara Mary Shockey. The son of Edward and Sarah Nichols. Edward Nichols wrote his last will and testament the twenty second day of April 1777. William Nichols inherited the lower section of the farm located in Washington Twp., Franklin County, PA. on the Iron Bridges Road, off the Marsh Pike Road, just across the Mason-Dixon Line. Apparently he lived there until he died circa 1826, and is buried in the presently known Singer Cemetery on the property. The land was in both Washington Township, Franklin County, PA., and the Ringgold District of Washington County, Maryland. John Nichols who married Eve Shockey the daughter of Jacob Shockey and the oldest son of Edward Nichols inherited the upper section on land of which his father lived, located just south of the present day Harbaugh Church Road, Washington Twp. Franklin county, PA the farm is located in the Ringgold District, Washington County, MD. John Nichols sold the farm to John Hoover April 16, 1790. On 4 Oct 1826, James NICHOLS testified John NICHOLS, Margaret and Conrad HUMBURG lived out of state but did not name the state. Guardian was David FILSON; trustee was James NICHOLS; after 3 failed public sales, private sale was made for $1,200 (name not disclosed) on 9 Apr 1828; each 1/9 share was $119.52; finalized 26 Aug 1830.
