Services for James Curtis Hilliard will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday February 25, 2014 at Hilliard Funeral Home, Van, with Rev. Jerry Bontrager officiating and Rev. Ricky Moffett assisting. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home. A graveside will follow the service at Cool Springs Cemetery. James Curtis passed away at the age of 77 on February 22, 2014 in Canton, Texas. James Curtis Hilliard was born October 6, 1936 in Canton to the late George Curtis Hilliard and Connie Ruth Mills Hilliard. He was a lifelong resident of Canton. He worked at Hilliard Furniture and was a great appliance repairman. He enjoyed socializing with his friends at Mr. D’s, and was an avid gun and knife collector. He was preceded in death by his wife, Madelon Hilliard. Survivors include his two daughters and sons-in-law, Pattie & Ricky Moffett of Arlington, and Lisa & Jerry Bontrager of Magnolia; sisters and brothers, along with their spouses, Joanna & Billy Hudson of Canton, Susie & Ronnie Roberts of Canton, Mike & Debbie Hilliard of Flower Mound and Mary Lynn & Jimmy Baugh of Canton; five grandchildren and their spouses, Christal & Lennon Noland of Durham, NC, Brandon &Kelli Moffett of Dallas, Ashley & Ryan Snell of Magnolia, Brett Bontrager & fiancé, Morgan Hahn of Kingwood, and Jonathan Moffett of Arlington; and nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Brandon Moffett, Jonathan Moffett, Brett Bontrager, Ryan Snell, Mike Hilliard and Ricky Moffett
