Bio
Delores Ann Knisley was born on 04 April 1937 on the family farm in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota, to Albert and Lucille (Bombeck) Knisley. Delores attended District #126 Country School through the eighth grade and graduated from Olivia High School in 1955. After her high school graduation, Delores worked in Minneapolis for an insurance company for one year. On 01 October 1956, she married Joseph Lloyd “Lloyd” Serbus, the son of James Joseph and Frances Rose Hlavinka Serbus, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. They were blessed with two children, Rick and Jodi. Delores and Lloyd made their home and farmed in Henryville Township for 50 years. Delores and Lloyd were members of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bechyn for many years and later were members of St. John's Catholic Church in Morton. Delores’ husband, Lloyd, died from cancer on 12 July 2007. After Lloyd’s death, Delores continued to live on the family farm. She was a resident of the Golden LivingCenter in Olivia for the seven months prior to her death. Delores enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, collecting Avon items and Beanie Babies, compiling family history, and spending time with her family and friends. Delores Ann Knisley Serbus of rural Redwood Falls, died at the age of 76, on Monday, 01 July 2013, at the Golden LivingCenter in Olivia, Renville County, Minnesota. Delores was survived by her son, Rick Serbus of Redwood Falls; daughter, Jodi (Dennis) Mellies of Hector; five grandchildren: Jeremy (Amy) Serbus of Redwood Falls, Jessica (Neil) Balderston of Olivia, Melissa Mellies of Somerset, Wisconsin, Josh Mellies of Hector, and Kyle Mellies of Hector; great-grandson, Conner Serbus; brothers, Harvey Knisley of Cedar and Dennis (Gloria) Knisley of Anoka; sister-in-law, Joan Knisley of Andover; and, many nieces and nephews. Delores was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd; special friend, Joe Braun; twin sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Gaylord Brown; brother, Lester Knisley, and nephew, Brian Brown. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, 10 July 2013, at St. John's Catholic Church in Morton with Pastor Michael Doyle as celebrant. Interment was in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Olivia, Renville County, Minnesota.
