Bio

PORT LAVACA - Dora Jean Smith, 83 of Port Lavaca passed away, September 13, 2014. She was born October 8, 1930 in Midfield, TX to the late Joseph and Dora Mae Hurta. Jean was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church and retired from Union Carbide Lab Department. Before her career at Union Carbide she owned and operated Jean's Beauty Shop in Point Comfort, and also worked for the Port Lavaca Wave and United States Postal Service. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon A. Smith and her brother, Howard L. Hurta. Burial will follow mass at the Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
