Published in the Ord Quiz - Mar 2001 William Goff PAPILLION—William R. Goff, 82, of Papillion died Monday, March 5, 2001, at the Papillion Manor. Services will be at 10 am Thursday at the Kahler-Dolce Chapel in Papillion. Additional services will be at 10 am Friday at the Ord Memorial Chapel in Ord. The Rev. Mike Chase will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation was on Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to the St. Paul's Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society. Mr. Goff was born April 27, 1918, at Wood River to Thomas Kerr and Anna (Oberbach) Goff. As a child, the family moved to Ord, where he was a graduate of Ord High School. He married Lorraine E. Jorgensen in Ord on August 31, 1940. He served in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1946. He then returned to Ord and ran the hatchery. In 1953, the couple moved to Wood River, where he worked for the Ordnance Plant in Grand Island. In 1957, they moved to Papillion, where he worked for Allied Chemical until retiring in 1980. He continued living in Papillion. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 50 years, the American Legion, the VFW and the Eagles Club No. 154. He enjoyed golf, visiting with people, yard work, and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Sharon (Mrs. Allen) Northrup of Yarrow Point, Wash.; one son, Bill of Zion, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
