His mother, Sophia (born Oct 1845, Germany), was married the second time to Charles Hufendick. They were living in Quincy, Illinois in the 1900 census. Dispatch - Monday - February 18, 1952 The funeral for William Carl Henry Waack, 69, who died at 7 Saturday evening in his home, 104 Thirteenth avenue, Rock Island, after a year's illness, will be at 2 tomorrow afternoon in Bethel Assembly of God church, Rock Island. The Rev. Ralph Price, pastor, will officiate, and burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The body is at the Wheelan funeral home, Rock Island, where friends may call. Mr. Waack, a molder by trade, was employed at the Moline Iron Works. He had resided in Rock Island 24 years. He was born April 5, 1882, in Germany, and came to the United States 66 years ago. He attended school in Quincy, Ill., and married Mrs. Nida Howard June 31, 1940, in Bettendorf. Surviving are the widow; a son, the Rev. Chester Waack of Tulsa, Okla.; two step-sons, Donald Howard, Port Byron, and Dick Howard, Rock Island; two step-daughters, Mrs. Perry Trone, Rock Island, and Mrs. Frank Eastman, Cedar Rapids, Ia.; three half brothers, Edward, Jack and Henry Hufendick, all of Quincy; a half sister, Mrs. Lena Benjamin, Quincy, and two grandchildren.
