Virgil L. Hendren, 87 of Moberly, died Thursday, August 21, 2014 at South Hampton Place Nursing Home in Columbia. He was born October 15, 1926 in Huntsville, MO to William Shelby and Odessa May (Duncan) Hendren. Prior to retirement Virgil worked for Thomas Hill Power Plant as a maintenance planner. Virgil married Alice Louise Bishop on May 3, 1948 in Palmyra, MO and she survives of the home. Also surviving are daughters, Barbara Robuck of Moberly, Marilyn Ladd and her husband Jack of Mt. Home, AR, Vera Lee Goff and her husband Rick of Columbia, son-in-law, Kenny Eikel of Mexico, four grandchildren, Jack Ladd, Jr., Alan Pierce and his wife Gabrielle, Stacy Brockman and his fiancée Kacey Osmondson, Veronica Goff and her significant other Curtis Powderly and his son Evan, five great- grandchildren, Brandon and Bradley Pierce, Jessica Shaw, Jonathan Sieckmann and Kaleb Brockman. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Edith Zeltner and Lorene Robertson, four brothers, Raymond, Odis, Bill and Chester, a daughter, Marlena Eikel, a granddaughter, Angela Sieckmann and a son-in-law Billy Robuck. Virgil was a member of the Eagles, Moose and Boilermakers. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, traveling and playing pool. Services honoring and celebrating Virgil’s life were at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Committal prayers and entombment followed at the Good Shepard Mausoleum in Oakland Cemetery.
