Sioux Center News; October 12, 1944 Double funeral services were held at the First Reformed Church in Hull Monday afternoon for Pfc. Steve Steenhoven of Hull and his daughter, Arlene Beth Steenhoven, who were killed last Thursday night in the collision of a Chicago and North Western freight with a passenger train at Missouri Valley, Iowa. Mrs. Steenhoven was injured seriously in the wreck but was reported to be recovering in a Council Bluffs Hospital. Pfc. Steenhoven was 32 years old and his daughter would have been 1 year old Friday, October 6. They were on their way to Texas where Pfc. Steenhoven was stationed at Randolph field as a member of the ground crew of the Army Air Force. Pfc. Steenhoven entered the Army in May, 1942.
