Bio

Donald A. Gibson, 89, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 1995, at his home, from smoke inhalation. Mr. Gibson was born July 12, 1906, in Salem. He grew up there and graduated from Salem High School. He attended Yankton College. During the 1920s, he was employed installing telephone lines in the Madison area. He married Goldie Scheinost on June 14, 1941, in Salem. For more than 30 years, he was employed by the South Dakota State Highway Department. After his retirement he worked for a campground south of Salem and was an Argus Leader deliveryman for several years. His wife died in 1993. He was a member of Salem United Church. Survivors include one son, Donnie of Salem; and two granddaughters. Memorial services begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Salem United Church, with burial of the cremains in Wildwood Cemetery.
