Ernest J. "Pee Wee" Bruner of Columbus died Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Columbus Community Hospital. Ernest J. "Pee Wee" Bruner was born May 20, 1924 in David City, NE to Mike and Victoria (Fiala) Bruner. He grew up in Butler County and graduated from Brainard High School in 1941. On October 27, 1949, Ernest was united in marriage to Marvene Dusatko at Holy Trinity Church in Brainard. He worked as a banker in Brainard and was a farmer in the David City area. In 1962 he moved to Columbus where he worked as a cook at the Avenue Bar. Pee Wee loved to garden and was known for his rose garden. He was an avid sports fan. Pee Wee was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council in Brainard. He is survived by: Wife Marvene Bruner of Columbus, NE Son Allen (Mary) Bruner of Omaha, NE Daughter Nancy (Tony) Zabawa of Omaha, NE Daughter Jane (Bob) Pelan of Olathe, KS Daughter Ruth (Gary) Foltz of Columbus, NE Daughter Joyce Bruner of Omaha, NE Daughter Michelle (Brian) Nelson of Lincoln, NE Daughter Mary (Josh) Isley of Lincoln, NE 22 Grandchildren 9 Great Grandchildren 1 Great Great Granddaughter He is preceded in death by: Parents Brother Henry Bruner Sister Helen Sabata Memorials may be made to St. Bonaventure Grade School, the Down Syndrome Association for Families (DSAF), or to the donor's choice.
