Doris Loree (Barnett) Smith, 74, of Maitland, Mo., died Mon., Aug 16, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital. Mrs. Smith, a homemaker, also was a secretary at the Nodaway Parish United Methodist Churches until retiring. Born in Lincoln, Neb., on June 10, 1926, she resided in Maitland for almost 50 years. She was a graduate of the high school in Geneva, Neb., and a member of the United Methodist Church, Maitland, where she was active in the United Methodist Women; and CBC Club. On Feb 14, 1945, she married Elmer E. Smith Sr. in Lincoln. He survives of the home. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, William A. and Belle Barnett. Additional survivors: a son, Elmer E., Jr.,Savannah, Mo.; four daughters, Barbara Zapf, Del City, Okla., Beverly Denk, Olathe, Kan., Kathy McLain, Cainesville, Mo., and Patty Ridler, Maitland,; a brother, Ronald Barnett, Genevea; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
