Wife of Travis Darwood Townley. Daughter of Bart and Bertie Owsley Tittle. She was 81 years old when she died. Verna Mae Townley, 81, of Douglasville, Ga., died Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at Wellstar Douglas Hospital in Douglasville, Ga. A native of Marion County, Alabama, she had resided in Englewood for 30 years and had been a resident of Douglasville, Ga., for the past several years. A daughter of the late Bart and Bertie Owsley Tittle, she was a member of North Etowah Baptist Church for 30 years, and was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Darwood Townley; two sons, Ronald Travis Townley and James Rayford Townley; one daughter, Deloris Hopson; and one granddaughter, Amber Rose Kuhn. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Wells and Ray Cornett of Athens; one son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Julie Townley of Lincoln Park, Mich.; a total of 53 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bart Tittle Jr., of Taylor, Mich., and Travis Bud Tittle of West Frankford, Ill. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Thursday at North Etowah Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Creasman and the Rev. Allen Bates officiating. Burial will be 1 p.m. Friday in McMinn Memory Gardens with grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Bordwine Funeral Home of Etowah is in charge of arrangements.
