Mary Wells Cornett, 72, of Athens passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Starr Regional Medical Center of Athens. She was a native of Michigan, and daughter of the late Travis and Verna Townley and she attended Rocky Mount Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ronnie and Rayford Townley; and sister, Deloris Hopson. Survivors include her husband, Ray Cornett of Athens; 5 daughters, Lorrie Ann Wells of Athens, Donna Lingerfelt of Athens, Faye Wells of Athens, Kaye Dingess of Etowah and Cristi Wells of Athens; grandchildren, Elijah Watson, Justin Howard, Gary Carter, Jamie Carter, Stephinie Wilson, Beth Collins, Jeremy Bryan, Will Robinson, MaryAnne Wells, and Kadon Byrd; great-grandchildren, Brent Bowman, Ellie Wilson, Waylon Collins, Aryana Watson, Keegan Watson, Addyson Watson and Michael Watson; and brother, Raymond Townley of Michigan. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2014 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with grandson, Justin Howard officiating. Interment will follow service in Green Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 15th in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Memorial Contributions may be made to East Tennessee Children's Hospital, 2018 Clinch Ave, Knoxville, TN 37916
