CENTRAL CITY — Lois I. Mason, 76, of Central City died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, at Litzenberg Long Term Care in Central City. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Solt Funeral Home in Central City. The Rev. Janet Burgel will officiate. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery. Lois Ilene was born on Aug. 13, 1938, in Central City to August Roumpf Jr. and Eva Ilene Kuhn Roumpf. She grew up in the Central City and Clarks area, completing her education at Clarks High School. On Nov. 10, 1956, Lois was united in marriage to Larry L. Mason. They made their home in the Grand Island, Chapman and Central City communities. Lois worked at the Cornhusker Ordnance Plant in Grand Island, she cooked for several area restaurants, including the Round Table, Doc's and Patty's Pub, all in Central City; and Red Horse Buffet and the Wrangler, both in Chapman. She also worked with her daughter, Kayln, at the Double K Cafe in Clarks. Lois also did seasonal work at Schank's Mink Farm for many years. Larry died on Dec. 6, 2011, and Lois lived in her home until moving to Cottonwood Estates in November 2013. Lois was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Eagles Club. She enjoyed shooting pool, playing cards, dice and softball. She followed horse racing, demolition derby, and all sports, especially the Cornhuskers. Lois' greatest love was for her family and the time she spent with them. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Kirk and Krissy Mason of Portland, Ore., Kerry and Mitch Price of Wood River, Kayln and Carl Shively of Clarks, Kathy and Rick Davidson of Grand Island, Kevin and Jan Mason of Aurora, Kristie and Tom Granfield of Hoskins, Karla and Jim Jensen of Polk, and Kelly and Denise Mason of Aurora; 28 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren, and she was anticipating the birth of two more; and three brothers, Monte and Betty Roumpf of Des Moines, Iowa, Kenneth and Lana Roumpf of Nebraska City and Danny and Jackie Roumpf of Crawford. Preceding Lois in death were her husband; her daughter, Kim Shively in 2009; two grandsons, Zach Pavlik and Doug Mason; a granddaughter, Ashlee Grimes; her parents; a sister, Sharon Burger; and an infant sister, Willa.
