Osceola Sentinel Tribune December 15, 1988 Ethel Mae Neff was born December 21, 1896 in Clarke County, Iowa the daughter of David William and Edith Gleason DeLong, and departed this life Friday, December 2, 1988 at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa at the age of 91 years 11 months and 11 days. Ethel attended school in Clarke County with the exception of two years in Missouri. She was united in marriage to Clarence Edward Neff on August 15, 1917 in Osceola. This union was blessed with five daughters and one son. Ethel taught in the Clarke County schools from 1914 to 1917, Clarence and Ethel then pursued farming in Clarke County for 50 years before retiring and making their home in Osceola in 1967, moving to the Leisure Manor in November of 1986. Ethel and her loving husband celebrated their 70th anniversary in 1987. She was a member of D.O.C. Club, Mizpah Chapter and a member of the First Christian Church in Osceola. Survivors include daughter, Mildred George and husband, Leland of Osceola; daughter, Dorotha Foland and husband, Arben of Osceola; son, Lowell Neff and wife, Irene of Osceola; daughter, Aleta McDaniel and husband, Nelson of Bethany, Missouri; daughter, Oma Crabb and husband, Harold of Williamsburg, New Mexico; daughter Edith Neisemier and husband, Clarence of Thayer; 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence in 1987; parents; two grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and three brothers.
