OBITUARY - FORT SMITH, ARKANSAS TIMES RECORD, TUESDAY, APRIL 15, 1997 - PAGE 4A Beulah Evelyn Crutchfield, 89, died April 13, 1997, in a Fort Smith nursing home. The widow of Eugene Crutchfield, she was a teacher for 49 years before retiring in 1972. She received a bachelor's degree from Sul Ross College in Alpine, Texas, and a master's degree from the University of Arkansas in 1954. She was a member and past president of Varina Jefferson Davis Chapter 252, Ft Smith and DAR in Van Buren and held several positions in Mary Place Chapter Arkansas Society Colonial Dames XVII Century in Conway. She was a member of the National Society of United States Daughters of 1812 General George Izard Chapter. Funeral will be in Oak Cliff Baptist Church with burial at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. She is survived by four sisters; Hazel Tarkington of Fort Smith, Paulene Forbis of Malakoff, Texas, Lorene Hopkins and Madline Vernon, both of Kerens, Texas; and a brother, Thomas Benton Tarkington of Irving, Texas. Pallbearers will be Troy Douglas, Bill Ellis, Keith Patterson, L.C. Goodman, Darrell Taylor and Jimmy Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be Adult One Senior Men members of Oak Cliff Baptist Church.
