Edna L. Peterson, 91, of Georgetown died on Sunday, February 12, 2006, in Austin. She was born on April 1, 1914, in Walburg to Gus Otto Oscar and Ella Pauline Huenecke Schneider. She was married on July 24, 1954, to Roland H. Peterson. Her son, Preston Peterson of Georgetown, survives her. Ms. Peterson was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, being confirmed on April 1, 1928. She lived in Los Angeles form 1939 through 1954 working for Standard Oil of California and the Federal Reserve Bank. She and her husband moved to Georgetown in 1954 and opened their own beer tavern in Walburg, “Pete’s Place.” She was proud of her son and his activities in football, basketball and baseball. As a young boy, he belonged to 4-H, took guitar lessons and played pool. He married Barbara James on November 6, 1982, and has an adopted daughter, Kara James. Ms. Peterson was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bert Schneider and Awalt Schneider; and sisters, Clara Kokel and Minnie Teinert. She leaves behind a sister, Lydia Cardwell of Oceanside, California; a brother, Rylan Schneider of Thorndale; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Friday, February 17, at Zion Lutheran Church in Walburg with Pastor John Davenport officiating. Burial followed in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
