Enid-Funeral service for Jack Walton Rhodes, age 84, will be Saturday, April 28, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Lanman Funeral Home Chapel in Helena with Rev. Steven Meier officiating. Burial will follow at Good Hope Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena. Visitation will be Tuesday at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. with the family being present from 5:00 until 7:00. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.lanmanfuneralhomes.com. Jack Walton Rhodes was born on March 8, 1923 in Enville, Love County, Oklahoma to Troy E. Rhodes and Katie Bell Willis Rhodes and passed from this life on April 24, 2007 at his home in Enid. His early years were spent in Maude, Oklahoma. Jack graduated from high school in Gainesville, Texas and from a welding school in Shawnee, Oklahoma. After welding school, Jack served from 1943 until 1945 in the U. S. Army in England. On January 19, 1957 he married Sylva Carter Kowalski in Enid. They lived in Mesquite, Texas for nineteen years and had lived in Helena for approximately thirty years. Jack and Sylva lived in Enid since 2000. Jack retired in 1985 from Crabtree Correctional Facility after working there for ten years. He was a member of First Christian Church in Helena serving as an elder on the church board. Jack was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include his wife, Sylva of Enid; one son, Jimmy L. Kowalski and wife, Kathy of Salem, Massachusetts; one sister, Wanda Cupp and husband, John of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Kristine Kowalski, Kathleen Wasserman, Kerrianne Tsimounis, Jonathan Kowalski; ten great grandchildren, David and Zachary Farrar, Cameron Duchesne, Sarah, Michael, Hannah, Jonathan and Ella Wasserman, Jessica Kowalski and Christopher Tsimounis; several nieces and nephews. Those that preceded Jack in death include his parents, one sister, Margaret Morale; four brothers, Edmond, Alvin, S.F. and Troy Gene. Memorials may be given to Ross Hospice through the funeral home.
