STANSBURY, GEORGE HERBERT III, 86, our beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at his home in Louisville. He was born February 16, 1924, in Louisville, the son of Frances and George Herbert Stansbury II. George graduated from DuPont Manual High School in 1943. He then served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Following the war, he attended the University of Nebraska where he met the love of his life, Vivian and later attended the University of Louisville. Until his retirement in 1979 he was employed by the Addressograph-Multigraph Corporation for over 30 years. George was a faithful member of St. Michael Orthodox Church, where he served on the parish council and sang in the choir. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America and served for several years as the committee chairman for Troop 108. He also enjoyed barbershop singing and sang in the Louisville Thoroughbred Chorus for many years. He was a loving father and a good friend. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Allen Stansbury. He is survived by his cherished wife of 64 years, Vivian Jarmin Stansbury; children, James Stansbury (Cheryl), Janet Poole (William), John Stansbury (Patricia), Judith Leep (John) and Jennifer Sawchak (Timothy); grandchildren, Lauren Turley (Terry), Hannah Schardein (Robert), Denise Bruneau (Mark Fisher), Lisa Sass (James), Timothy Bruneau (Dawn), Teresa Bruneau, Jonathan Bruneau, Jo Danielle Stansbury, Jessica Davis (Brian), John Leep, Nick Leep, Jessica Leep, Benjamin Sawchak and Nathaniel Sawchak; and great-grandchildren, Jackson Turley, Alexander Schardein, Elise Fisher, Emma Sass, Sara Sass, Will Sass and Fletcher Bruneau. The family invites friends to visit between the hours of 2-8 p.m. Thursday, at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road. A funeral service will be held at St. Michael Orthodox Church, 3701 St. Michael Church Drive, at 10 a.m. Friday, with the burial to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery.
