She was raised in Valley County where she attended Brace Country School and graduated from Ord High School in 1957. Following high school, Alice moved to Omaha and worked at Mutual of Omaha for 2 years. She returned home to marry Albin Eugene Bruha. The couple was united in marriage on April 12, 1959, at the Methodist Church in Ord, followed by a dance at Jungman Hall. To this union six children were born, Richard, Karen, David, Angie, Kent and Galen. Alice was a homemaker. After their children were in school she returned to work. She was employed at the Curler Factory in Burwell, the Corner Cottage in Ord and the Valley County Nursing Home. Later, Alice cared for children at Lil People's Playhouse until she was unable to work due to health reasons. In 1979, Alice was diagnosed with cancer. She spent that summer in Omaha taking radiation treatments. She has been cancer free since then. For the past five years, Alice has struggled with PSP, succumbing to the illness. Alice enjoyed baking kolaches and was well known for her cinnamon rolls. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attempting to teach them how to drive. Alice and Albin enjoyed many nights dancing Polka, Country Western and Square Dancing. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Albin of Burwell; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Rich Collins of Elyria and Angie and Brian Smith of Grand Island; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kent and Lori Bruha and Galen and Tania Bruha all of Grand Island; a daughter-in-law, Janet Bruha of Alda; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Clarice and Ernie Lewandowski of Rockford, Illinois and Mary Lou Hulinsky of Grand Island; many nieces and nephews; and a "special sister", Margie Grabowski.
