Buried next to her father Lemuel L. "Bud" Bolden and in the same family plot section as brother Wesley William Bolden. Death was just a few days shy of four months after her marriage to Samuel Branch Simmons in Dec 1925. The makeshift headstone was likely placed several years after her death and my suspicion is that whoever placed the headstone either forgot she was married or didn't know. A death record on file with the state of OK (ordered and added to Ancestry) for a Jessie Iona Simmons who died in Bryan County, OK on 4/6/1926 and an article regarding the same Jessie Iona Simmons in the paper states she was 18 years and 19 days old died in a local hospital also stating she was buried in Colbert Cemetery. Details of the death announcement in the paper. Published in Durant Weekly News and Bryan County Democrat 4/9/1926: Mrs. Jessie Iona Simmons Mrs. Jessie Iona Simmons, age 18 years 19 days died at a local hospital early last Tuesday night. The remains were taken to the family residence at Colbert Wednesday morning where funeral services were held Thursday afternoon with interment at the Colbert Cemetery. Holmes Bros. in charge.
