Bio

Services for Doris Melton 90, of Whitehouse, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Whitehouse with Dr. Ray Davis, the Rev. Harold Davis and John Melton officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home. Doris was born April 2, 1924, in Wood County to the late William Howard and Leva Mae Killian and passed away June 30, 2014, in Tyler. She graduated from Big Sandy High School and was a member of First Baptist Church of Whitehouse. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Robert Melton, in 1986; four sisters; and a brother. She is survived by her loving family, a son, Randy Melton and wife Nelda; a daughter, Reba Dickson and husband Jim; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, and a host of friends and family. Pallbearers will be John Melton, Ross Melton, Matt Jackson, Don Dickson, Mike Buenaventura and Dustin Gentry. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Whitehouse Youth Building Fund or to a charity of one's choice . Published in Tyler Morning Telegraph on July 2, 2014
