(Brockhaus Funeral Home - June 28, 2014) Funeral services for Tony L. Battershaw, age 36 of Norfolk, Nebraska, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at the United Methodist Church in Tilden, Nebraska. Pastor Ralph M. Metschke will officiate, with burial in the Union Cemetery at Battle Creek, Nebraska. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Brockhaus-Howser-Fillmer Funeral Home in Norfolk. Tony died Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Tony Battershaw, son of Glen and Shirley (Granger) Battershaw, was born October 10, 1977 at the Lutheran Community Hospital in Norfolk, Nebraska. Tony attended Battle Creek Public Schools in Battle Creek, Nebraska. He was baptized in the Methodist Faith in Battle Creek. On April 29, 2000, Tony was married to Susan Pendergast at Christ The Servant Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Tony was employed at Elworth's Harley Davidson in Norfolk as the mechanic and service manager until his health started to decline. Tony was an amazing husband, father, brother, and uncle. Tony loved his family and was a big kid at heart. He spent every moment with his family enjoying movies, paintballing, and riding motorcycles. Tony attended the Center for the Blind after his vision was impaired due to diabetes. Over the years, Tony shared his time to help raise money through Poker Runs for many different benefits. His love of children led him to help with Toys For Tots as well. Tony's love of everyone shines through even in death, as he gave life to others by donating his organs. Tony died Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk due to complications of diabetes. Tony is survived by his wife, Susan Battershaw of Norfolk, Nebraska; children, Savanah Alder of O'Neill, Nebraska, Alysa Battershaw of Norfolk, and Tre' Alder of Norfolk; siblings, Debbie Schmitz (Tim) of Tilden, Nebraska, Dixie Cejka (Dean) of Bee, Nebraska, Ruth Farmer (Frank) of Weston, Nebraska, Tammie Hogan (Scott) of Columbus, Nebraska, Sarah Battershaw (John) of Sioux City, Iowa, Tim Battershaw (Cathy) of Columbus, Randy Battershaw (Gina) of Battle Creek, Nebraska; parents-in-law, Mary and Art Pendergast; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Shirley Battershaw; brother, Jeffrey Battershaw; and his grandparents.
