Wayne Herald; Wayne, Nebraska; Thursday, January 13, 1927 Former Resident is Buried Here Mrs. Mary Shirts Who Came to Wayne in 1883, Passes in Randolph at age of 78 Funeral service was held in the Randolph Methodist church last Thursday morning for Mrs. Mary Shirts who died there the previous Sunday, and the body was brought to Wayne Thursday afternoon for interment in Greenwood cemetery. Deceased was aged 78 years and lived with her daughter, Miss Hattie, and son, ralph, in Randolph. Mrs. Shirts suffered a stroke of apoplexy a year ago and had been failing in health since. Mrs. Shirts' maiden name was Miss Mary McFall. She was born in Indiana and came to Iowa when a year old. She was married to Thomas Shirts September 3, 1879, at Fremont, Iowa. In 1883 Mr. and Mrs. Shirts came to Wayne county and the latter lived here until 1925, with the exception of six years, when she was in Boyd county. Deceased moved to Sholes in 1925 and to Randolph last April. Mr. Shirts died nine years ago and was buried in the Wayne cemetery. Mrs. Shirts leaves four children: E. M. Shirts of Sholes, Mrs. Blanche Tucker of Carroll, Ralph and Miss Hattie Shirts of Randolph. Mrs. George Rishell of Omaha, Mrs. Andrew Jones of Haddom, Kan., and J. S. McFall of Hershey, Neb., are sisters and brothers of deceased. Mrs. Shirts was a member of the Baptist church and was a faithful Christian woman.
