CEDAR RAPIDS — Jimmy Lee Watts 84, of Cedar Rapids died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at his home. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, with Msgr. Ralph Steffensmeier officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Dan Cox American Legion Post 44 of Cedar Rapids. Levander Funeral Home of Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements. Jimmy Lee Watts, son of Warner and Emily "Emma" (Voboril) Watts, was born January 11, 1930 in Primrose, NE. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids and received his education at Primrose Elementary, graduating from Primrose High School in 1947. Following high school, Jimmy worked various jobs before entering the United States Army on February 29, 1952. He served during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged on February 16, 1954. He joined his Step father Everett "Butch" Farlee farming near Cedar Rapids. On June 15, 1954, Jimmy was united in marriage to Geraldine "Jeri" Faust at Cedar Rapids. They made their home in the Primrose and Cedar Rapids area where they farmed and raised their family until 1968, when Jimmy started Watts Electric and continued as an electrician until retirement. Jimmy was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids; the American Legion Post # 44 of Cedar Rapids as a lifetime member and past Commander and Volunteer Fireman and past Department Chief in Cedar Rapids. He's affectionately remembered as being "old and grumpy". He loved fishing, camping, gardening, growing trees, doing crossword puzzles with Jeri and he loved his cats. Jimmy is survived by his son Dave Watts of Omaha; daughter Patti Lofgreen of Grand Island; daughter-in-law Chris Watts of Cedar Rapids and fiancé Butch Klassen of Belgrade; 5 grandchildren: Jeffrey Lofgreen of Atlanta, GA; Kevin Lofgreen of Omaha; Matt Watts of Columbus; Lee Watts and Kade Watts both of Cedar Rapids; a brother Bob Watts and wife Rita of Cedar Rapids; 3 nephews: Bob "Bunky" Watts, Jr and wife Joan and Bill Watts all of Cedar Rapids; Tom Heany and wife Jane of Lincoln, NE and his beloved cat Annie. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jeri, his son Tom Watts, and sister and brother-in-law Donna and Ed Heany.
