James A. "Jim" Vaughan is said to be buried in the Napier Cemetery. There is no stone for James. James was probably born between 1800 and 1810 in Tennessee. His parents are not known at this time. He may have died about 1861 in Nogo, Pope County, Arkansas. James A. Vaughan married Mary "Polly" H. (1809-1842) in 1826 in Tennessee. Her middle name is generally spelled Hawtree, but it may have been Autrey. Her surname may have been Tinnell or Pinnell. Their children, according to family lore, were: Stephen Clinton Vaughan (1828-1885) married Amanda Smith Napier Eliza Jane Vaughan (1829-1876) married John Wesley Brown Anna Terline or Pearline Vaughan (1831-1839) Mary H. Vaughan (1833-1899) married Archibald Dodson Napier Melissa Elizabeth Vaughan (1835-1908) married John Wesley Brown, widower of her older sister Eliza Jane; she also had children by Archibald Dodson Napier and Silas B. Pinnell, although she did not marry either man James K. Polk Vaughan (1838-1918) married Sarah Jane Rackley, Nancy Elizabeth Cooper, and two other women William Riley Vaughan (1840-1876) married Fannie Womble and her sister Katy Womble ------------ After Mary's death, James A. Vaughan married Elizabeth May Horton (1812-1849) in 1842 in Carroll County, Arkansas. Their children: John Cleveland Vaughan (1844-1883) James Horton Vaughan (1846-1884) Benjamin Vaughan (1847-1852) ------------ After Elizabeth's death, James A. Vaughan married Mary Anna (1828-bef. 1870) in 1853 in Pope County, Arkansas. Her last name is not known. Their children: Sarah Pearl Ann or Perline Vaughan (1857-1930) married Benjamin Franklin Richardson Frances Isabell Vaughan (1858-1861) Rebecca Josephine "Josie" Vaughan (1860-bef. 1894) married Daniel Webster Crownover
