J. Lee Hester, 73, life-long resident of Lincoln parish, died at his home in Choudrant Tuesday morning, after an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were conducted this morning at 10 o'clock from the Choudrant Baptist church, with Rev. E. A. Burgess, of Simsboro, officiating, assisted by the Rev. J. C. McCain, Choudrant, and Rev. F. D. Bachum, Downsville. Interment was in Greenwood cemetery, Ruston, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Parlors. Mr. Hester was born near Downsville, and spent most of his life in that community. For the past 27 year[s] he had engaged in mercantile business in Downsville and Choudrant. Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Ora Roberts Hester; six sons, C. E. Hester, Tallulah; R. B. Hester, West Monroe; H. H. Hester, Coushatta; R. L. Hester, Austin, Texas; L. O. Hester, Alexandria, and Gordon E. Hester, Choudrant, and one daughter, Mrs. M. G. Osborne, wife of the head of L.S.U. School of Journalism, at Baton Rouge. Other survivors are one brother, G. W. Hester, Miles, Texas, and one sister, Mrs. James Pardue, Downsville. Pallbearers for the rites were Fred Taylor, Harvey Sizemore, J. W. Sizemore, W. M. Bagwell, J. A. O'Neal and Carlos Henry.
