Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Rosalie C. Kadavy, 76, a resident of Davenport, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m. to begin the visitation. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:15 a.m. until the time of the service in the gathering space at the church. Rosalie died peacefully Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at her residence in Davenport. Rosalie Clare Jaacks was born on August 7, 1933, in Denison, Iowa, a daughter of John R. and Mary Elizabeth (Fitzpatrick) Jaacks. Rosalie graduated from Allen Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Waterloo, Iowa, in May 1955. She was united in marriage to Henry D. Kadavy on October 8, 1955, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Denison, Iowa. Rosalie was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, and a former member of the Catholic Service Board. She was active in volunteer organizations at St. Paul the Apostle School and Assumption High School. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials to be directed to Assumption High School, St. Paul the Apostle School Scholarship Fund or Genesis Visiting Nurses Association. Rosalie is survived by her husband of more than 54 years, Henry; daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah and Jay Garner, Davenport, and Clare and Ralph Martens, Bettendorf; sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Julie Kadavy, Bellevue, Wash., John and Rita Kadavy, Greeley, Colo., Jim and Michele Kadavy, Davenport, and David Kadavy, Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Annie, Alison, John, and Lauren Kadavy, Ryan, Kyle, Kole, and Paige Kadavy, Kevan, Elizabeth, Kathleen, and Grace Kadavy, Emma and Ellen Garner, and Maggie and Joe Martens; sisters, Eileen Herzog, Independence, Iowa, Rosemary Zummak, Jesup, Iowa, and Cathy Baker, Des Moines, Iowa; and brothers, Kevan Cortright, Waterloo, Iowa, and Steve Cortright, San Diego, Calif. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ellen in infancy, a son, Joseph Michael in infancy, and brothers, Daniel and Michael Cortright. May they rest in peace.
