Bio

Wilma Joyce Cast, 82, of Hearne, TX, passed away May 30, 2014 in College Station. Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm, Monday, June 2, 2014 at Locklin Cemetery in San Gabriel, TX. Visitation will be from 10:00am to 11:00am at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale, TX on Monday, prior to the service. Wilma was born on November 7, 1931 to John Faxton and Ethel Sadie McCollum in Brenham, TX. She married Wayne Hilton Cast on September 8, 1950 in Freeport, TX. They lived in Eddy, TX before moving to Hearne, TX. Wilma worked as bookkeeper for 40 years for both her husband and her son sin family businesses to ensure their success. She was devoted to her boys and her grandchildren. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Bryan and was very active in her church volunteering to meet the church's needs from working in the nursery to taking youth on trips. She loved genealogy, or as she called it "Family Roots," and spent countless hours researching at local and distant libraries. She was Boy Scouts den mother for many years and before Meals On Wheels, she volunteered at the church to take elderly meals. Wilma was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Wilma is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Glenn McCollum. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Wayne Hilton Cast of Hearne; sons, Matt Cast and wife Lisa of Richardson, Stephen Cast and wife Mary Anne of College Station, and John Cast and wife Laura of Temple; grandchildren, Zachary Cast, Brooke Cast, Brett Cast and wife Samantha, Todd Cast, Kelley Cast, David Cast and Sara Cast; and sister-in-law, Nellie McCollum. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
