BELPRE, Kan. — Ken Kliewer, 57, of Belpre, Kan., passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 29, at the Stockham Community Church. The Rev. Paul Nauman will officiate. Interment will be at 2 p.m. in the Aurora Cemetery. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora is in charge of the arrangements. Kenneth Elmer Kliewer, the son of George J. and Delores Irene (Paschke) Kliewer, was born at Aurora Feb. 23, 1957. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Brenda of Belpre, Kan.; daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Terry Queckboerner of Lewis, Kan.; son, Corey Kliewer of Belpre, Kan.; daughter and son-in-law, Kelsey and Jamie Holguin of Kinsley, Kan.; granddaughter, Carmen Holguin, Kinsley, Kan.; brothers and sister-in-laws, Dennis and Shirley Kliewer of Bradshaw, Denton and Barbara Kliewer of Aurora and Gary and Dede Kliewer of Ault, Colo.; and sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Edward Wilkins of Lincolnshire, Ill. He is also survived by in-laws, Darrell and Phyllis Purdy of Aurora, and many nieces and nephews, family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Ken grew up on the family farm near Stockham. He graduated from Aurora High School in 1975. Ken was united in marriage to Brenda Purdy on Oct. 7, 1978, at Henderson. After their marriage they lived in Phillips, where Ken farmed until 1999. They moved to Kinsley, Kan., where Ken managed a farm until 2007. He then managed numerous farms in Kansas. In 2012 they purchased their Kansas homestead and continued farming until his passing. Ken was a FFA alumni member and local 4-H leader in Hamilton County who never missed an event or show. He coached Little League softball and was a member of the Kansas Corn Growers Association. Ken was a self-taught mechanic, enjoyed attending numerous sporting events, fishing, Nebraska football and western movies. He enjoyed life on the farm and spending time with family.
