Bio

Bertha immigrated to the U.S. in 1884 with her parents. They farmed in Burt county, NE. Bertha married Gilbert Swanson around 1903. They owned a café in Oakland, NE during the first years of their marriage. They moved to a farm near Lyons, NE before 1920. Gilbert and Bertha had children: Harry, Marie, Raymond, John, Grace, Albert, Mildred (Mrs. Johnson), Ralph and Harold. Gilbert also had a son, Leslie, from a previous marriage.
