YOAKUM: Emily Konvicka Poole, age 91, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014. She was born June 23, 1922 in Shiner to Laddie and Mary Kurtz Konvicka. She attended school in Charlottenburg and St. Ludmilas Catholic School, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, KJZT and was a certified med aide at Stevens Health Care & Rehab for many years. She married Robert Poole in 1942 and together they had 4 children, Roberta, Mary, Susan and Glen. Survivors are daughters, Roberta Cook of Austin, Mary Willke of Yoakum and daughter-in-law, Debbi Poole of Yoakum; 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; sisters, Louise Waligura of Hallettsville, Lillian Zoda of Boerne, Angie Wagner of Moulton and Georgia Haas of Hallettsville; brother, Alphonse Konvicka of King William, VA. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; daughter, Susan Traub; son, Glen D. Poole; sister, Sister Barbara Konvicka; brothers, Laddie and Frank Konvicka. Burial at Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers: grandsons, Dwain Cook, Darel Cook, Glen C. Poole, Randy Traub, and nephews, Wilbert Etzler and Jerome "Bubba" Haas. Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters and grandsons, Ed Willke and Billy Cook.
