Ellis -- Rose Marie Kohl, 62, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1993 at Hays Medical Center, Hadley Campus. She was born Sept. 14, 1930 in Lane County near Dighton to Frank J. and Brabara (Legleiter) Herl. She married Alvin Kohl Aug. 21, 1950 in Ellis. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She was a former member of Daughters of Isabella and had also served on the church committee. Between 1978 and the early 1980s, she wrote more than 30 freelance articles for Kansas Farmer magazine. Survivors include her husband, of the home; a son, Alan Mark, Hays; two daughters, Barbara Ann Kohl, Albuquerque, N.M., and Vicki Mae Kohl, Olathe; one grandson. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene Herl and Gerald Herl. Services were Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father John Wolesky officiating; burial in the church cemetery. The family suggests memorials to St. Mary Church or school or to the Ellis County Library. Ellis County Star, 2/11/1993
