Bio

Herald Coaster, February 17, 1977: Funeral services for John William Matthews, 61, of Rosenberg, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Rosenberg, with Rev. Alvis Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Matthews died Thursday morning at Polly Ryon. He was a supervisor for the Duval Sulfur Company. Survivors include his wife, Isabell of Rosenberg; three daughters, Mrs. Marie Zwahr of Rosenberg, Mrs. Fayette Reinecker of Orchard, and Mrs. Connie Morris of Damon; mother, Mrs. Willie Elizabeth Wooding of Wharton; four grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Senf of Iago; and two brothers, Edward Matthews of Rosenberg and Eugene Matthews of El Campo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call by Garmany and Co. Funeral Home after 4:30 p.m. Friday.
