Bio
Edith Estelle Grissom, lifelong Okmulgee resident, passed away Monday, May 19, 2014 in Okmulgee at 86 years of age. She was born January 6, 1928 to James Homer and Kitty Mae (Howell) Garner in Okmulgee. She married Fred Grissom on August 23, 1952 in Okmulgee. Edith loved to fish and camp and enjoyed making candy and cooking. She worked for many years at Fritch's Master Cleaners where she took pride in making clothes look perfect. Edith spent time at the Henryetta Senior Citizen's Center and was a member of the Crosstown Pentecostal Holiness Church. She learned to play the guitar with her companion, Sterling Rice, when she was 74. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, James Homer and Kitty Mae Garner, husband, Fred Grissom, best friend and companion, Sterling Rice, a daughter, Sharon Marris of Anchorage, Alaska and two sons, Rickey Worley of Ft. Mill, South Carolina and Dale Rowe of Texas. Survivors include her children, Danny Worley and wife Debbie of Okmulgee, Connie Neitch and husband Carrie of Gerald, Texas, Donna Story of Okmulgee and Bill Grissom of Okmulgee, fourteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
