Victoria Advocate, 21 Sep 2012 ADELE HENKHAUS SHINER - Adel Henkhaus, age 92, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2012. She was born December 8, 1919 in Shiner, Texas to the late Frank and Annie Hajek Novak. She was a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, KJZT/KJT, and the Sons of Hermann. She is survived by her son, Gene Henkhaus of Slidell, Louisiana; daughters, Patricia Pesek and husband Henry of Shiner, Joan Berger of Houston, and Ann Pavlicek and husband Melvin of Katy; brother, George "Red" Novak of Houston; sister, Edith Studeny of Houston; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, E. J. Henkhaus; grandson, Stephen Henkhaus; sisters, Emma Westphal and Mildred Zaruba; son-in-law, Gene Berger; and daughter-in-law, Adele P. Henkhaus. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm Friday, September 21, 2012 at Buffington Funeral Home in Shiner, and a Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm Friday. The Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church with the Rev. Kirby Hlavaty officiating. Burial will follow at the Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be David Pesek, Darryl Pesek, Dwight Pesek, Mike Berger, Chris Henkhaus, Greg Henkhaus, and Alan Huf. Memorial contributions may be made to Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Shiner Catholic Schools, or donor's choice.
