Robert moved with his family to Paulding County, Ohio in 1852. He married Lydia McMannis who was born in Wayne county, Ohio. They were the parents of: Mary Ann who married Hiram Hoover, Thomas, Buchanan Dallas, Jefferson, Ellen, Lavada Matson, Amelia Loretta Claypool, George, Nelson, William, John D., Alpha Ralston, and Jeminma.
