Bio

Fredrick H. Janssen, 80, of Greeley passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014, at this home in Greeley. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014, at the Greeley United Methodist Church with Pastor Jerry Schwarz officiating. Burial will be in the Greeley Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Charles E. Martin American Legion Post #186 of Greeley. T. J. Finn and Sons is in charge of arrangements. Fredrick Henry was born May 31, 1933, at Grand Island, Nebraska to Otto and Ethel (Bowen) Janssen. He was baptized into the Methodist Church on November 23, 1934. Fred graduated from Greeley High School in 1952. He served in the United States Army from 1953-1955. Fred farmed and made his home on the family farm northeast of Greeley all his life until moving into Greeley in 2010. He was a member of the Greeley United Methodist Church, and a lifetime member of Charles E. Martin American Legion Post #186. He enjoyed farming, playing cards and attending family reunions. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Carolyn Janssen of Grand Island; a nephew, Mark Janssen and his wife, Jill of Cairo; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Herman and Irvan Otto Janssen, one sister, Louise Janssen; and a niece, Renee Janssen.
