Bio

Bertha J. Burleson was born the second of nine documented children to parents James Walter and Sarah "Sallie" Tennessee Cooper Burleson (see links below). Bertha first married to Ernest Basil Huggins on December 21, 1919 in Lonoke County, Arkansas. Ernest was a resident of Tomberlin, Arkansas (Lonoke County), and Bertha resided in Keo, Arkansas at the time of marriage. She and Ernest are found in El Paso, Texas in the 1940 U.S. census with five sons, ages 6 to 17. Her obituary from 1982 notes four of those five sons as survivors (all but oldest son, Ernest Basil Huggins, Jr.). Bertha's second marriage was to Donald H. Lage (also linked below), with whom she shares a stone and rests beside. Bertha's parents and all eight of her adult siblings are also interred at Keo Cemetery.
