Bio

I cannot find the grave of his mother, Martha Ellen Tally. Lawrence graduated from Lincoln High School in 1941 and married Mary Ellen Feis on July 3, 1948 in Lincoln, NE. They had lived in Northglenn, CO, for 26 years. Prior to that, they lived in Phoenix, AZ, from 1970 to 1978. He worked for the Veterans Administration as a claims examiner from 1963 to 1989. Lawrence also worked for Elgin Watch Company in Lincoln, Nebraska from 1946 to 1956; and for State of Nebraska as Director of Veterans Affairs. Lawrence was a Veteran of the US Army Air Corps. He was a POW and MIA in Germany and Austria. He escaped from prison to Italy and was originally shot down over Germany as a tailgunner on B-24 Bomber. He was a member of American Legion Post #1 and lifetime member of VFW in Lincoln, NE and Thornton, CO. Survivors beside Mary Ellen included: son Terry Lee (Gayleen) Meyers, Brighton, CO; sister Rose Marie McKinney, Lincoln, NE; and grandchildren Brandon Lee Meyers and Brittany Nicole Meyers. Preceded by brother Mark Wayne Meyers. Rosary Service held October 6 at Tabor Funeral Home, Brighton, Colorado. Interment: October 8 at Lincoln Memorial Park, Lincoln, Nebraska.
